Description of Project:
The Quakertown Elementary School project, owned by the Quakertown Community School District, involves the demolition of the existing school facility and the construction of a new elementary school building located in Quakertown Borough, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Designed by Hord Coplan Macht (operating as SCHRADERGROUP) with construction management provided by CHA, the new multi-prime development features a structural layout supported by a shallow foundation system composed of strip and spread footings along with slab-on-grade floor systems. Construction includes brick masonry, aluminum wall and soffit cladding, specialized fiberglass-sandwich-panel assemblies alongside expansive glazed aluminum curtain walls. The new elementary building will feature educational and community spaces including learning library, foodservice kitchen, music and orchestra rooms, multi-purpose gym and cafetorium complete with automated gymnasium dividers, stage curtains, and theatrical lighting. Architectural finishes will include casework, polished concrete, and various floor, wall, and ceiling systems.
